Today I was taking screencaps from The Thick of It (which, by the way, is about as easy as trying to thread a needle when drunk), when something caught my eye. Slightly relevent to (some of) our interests.

So when I take screencaps I watch it in slow motion. Look what I spotted in Malcolm Tucker's DVD collection.

House of Cards! XD

Edited to include a pic for comparison:

I don't know what's more sad; that I'm actually rather chuffed that it's there, or that I managed to recognise the DVD box even though the picture is blurry as anything.

Very small, amusing bit of nonsense from me.

Apologies if this all meant jack to you.

I can totally buy Malcolm being an admirer of Francis's. Yep totally see it. LOL

LOL. I can totally see that, too!

Actually, I can see him outwardly dismissing Francis as a "posh Tory twat" but secretly taking notes.

And maybe being a little bit pissy that Francis is a Scotsman who talks with an English accent. LOL

I didn't think and should have used one of these icons.

I just watched In The Loop this past weekend and am now trying to scrape up money to but all three series of TTOI. I love Malcolm Tucker like you wouldn't believe.

I LOVE In the Loop. I was disappointed that it didn't win the Oscar. "Difficult, difficult lemon difficult" has totally become one of my sayings LOL.

And yes, I absolutely love Malcolm Tucker as well (even though I really shouldn't because he's so very like the people actually running this country...but I still love him).

*needs to hurry up with screencaps so she can make The Thick of It icons*

I have to admit part of my love of Malcolm comes from S3. I just love him and Nicola. And yes *hangs head* I ship them. I tried not to but I couldn't stop. Being a hopeless romantic is just so difficult at times. LOL

Yeah, I can totally see Malcolm/Nicola. I like ships with friction, so basically I could ship Malcolm with...anyone, really. LOL

Plus, he's a million times nicer to Nicola than he ever was to Hugh.

And, because you gave me virtual waffles (om nom nom) I will try to make some Malcolm/Nicola icons ;)

Hee!

Well, it's a political satire, so the significance of it is that everyone in politics has seen House of Cards and loads of people have quoted the "you might think that, I couldn't possibly comment" line (including ex-Prime Ministers John Major and Tony Blair).

In fact, in one of the episodes of The Thick of It the minister actually misquotes that line.

Blah, blah, blah. Yes, this is a good show. XD

Coolness!

If I've learned anything, it's that prop-makers, actors and directors simply can't resist adding that "Little personal touch"...I doubt it was an accident, lady!!!

But am I to understand there is something out there tougher to screencap than Colin Jeavons?? Really?

I was just thinking of that the other day...no one can quite forget walking into their sister's house to see her screaming loudly into the computer: "HOLD STILL, DAMN YOU!!!"

Oh, it was absolutely intentional. The props people on that show are amazing. And also, it's not very surprising; everyone involved in British politics probably has a copy of House of Cards.

And YES, it really is harder to cap than Colin Jeavons because, not only do I have to contend with fidgety actors, there is also purposefully shaky camera work. *growls*

Ahahahaha! Mine is always "DAMN! I ALMOST HAD IT THEN!"

Oh my god, House of Cards, something that's been on my "must watch" list for far too long. @_@ I think this post sealed it, I need to see it ASAP.

I do this when I watch movies though, or see pictures of people's rooms. I'm all "hmm, now many DVD spines can I identify?!"

GEEK POWERRRrrr

I do that too! I even do it secretly when I'm in people's homes. I've become a master at spying on people's bookshelves/DVD shelves. I just didn't realise that I did it with films and TV shows as well, obviously I do.

Even if I hadn't seen House of Cards, I would totally watch it once I knew that Malcolm Tucker liked it. Now THAT is sad XD
