In two parts because Livejournal limits are the bane of my existence.

Anywho, here's a meme that I did before my hiatus and then forgot to post. I had to pick my favourite icons and write about them. I thought I'd post it now because it combines two things I love. Icons and my own fannish opinions XD

Photobucket

MASH...Hawkeye...crazy drunk

He’s my Mary-Sue. I see all the bad things about myself in this character, but I don’t have any of the easy-going charm to counter it. Plus, I like to drink XD

‘Tis a bit too blueish, isn’t it? His hair looks a little blue.

Photobucket

Van Helsing...what a dude

From Brides of Dracula, one of my most favourite films ever. Hammer’s Van Helsing is a BAMF and Peter Cushing is pretty hot in this movie. Plus he gets the girl...sort of...in my head anyway. Text is not bad on this one.

I like this icon, which is surprising as it was actually done in Photoshop. I can’t get on with that programme at all. I’m like, the only person in the world who finds it easier to work with inferior products.

Also, Peter Cushing has an amazing face, but I sometimes have trouble with shadows across it. It might be the lighting or the angles of his face.

Photobucket

Lovely lovely DMC...as Steel

David McCallum is lovely lovely and cute and sexy. Here he is as Steel from Sapphire and Steel, which is confusing and weird and one of the best things ever cancelled! Steel is a bit of bastard and I love him. You should all watch this show.

David McCallum is pretty but I hate the colouring of this icon. I may redo it when I have the time.

Photobucket

Professor Marcus...I feel your pain my friend

From The Ladykillers, which is my favouritest film in the world! Professor Marcus is bat shit crazy and strange looking and he’s my favourite one for those reasons.

Text doesn’t completely suck...only sucks a little bit.

Photobucket

Jeremy RAWR

Jeremy Brett...rawr indeed. He looks really different there. Sort of...not posh, if you get what I’m saying.

Photobucket

Detective work...pretty detective work

I have such a crush of Livanov’s Holmes. Really big, geeky crush. I think he looks pretty doing his detective work there.

Photobucket

David Strathairn as Murrow <3

In the absence of a Murrow icon I have David Strathairn from Good Night, and Good Luck. I love that film and I love Murrow. We need more Murrows in the world!

Also, this film is a bitch to make icons of.

Photobucket

David Frost...take that Nixon!

Picture from the Frost v Nixon tapes. I love David Frost. I don’t really know why. My love for him is vague and undefined and confusing. If I could though, I would go back to the seventies and have meaningless sex with him. Yeah, I’m pretty sure I would. Plus, Frost v Nixon = awesome.

Plus, cap is from a DVDs of the interviews that I got free with The Independent. I love that DVD. I have the book of the interviews too and I love the film Frost/Nixon more than anyone else I know...and yet I wouldn’t count this as one of my obsessions...after all, I didn’t base a sizable portion of my degree on it...unlike another fandom I could mention.

Photobucket

Holmes/Lestrade...my attempt at not shipping

Yeah, made back in the day when I was trying to resist the urge to ship Holmes/Lestrade. I didn’t do very well, did I? I love this icon. It’s probably my favourite. PS: I saw that someone else had this icon and has written STFU on it. On one hand I don’t care because, whatever dude, icons are not serious business. On the other hand “but but but, that’s my lovely icon and it doesn’t need text.” Hee hee. Conflicted Emma is conflicted.

Photobucket

Clive Merrison...doesn't just sound like Holmes

The picture that looks just like that Paget drawing. I love Clive. I try not to let my bias show but I think he’s awesome-sauce and the best ever and if you disagree then LA LA LA *fingers in ears* I’m not listening! XD

Photobucket

Seductive er I mean deductive

Only one letter apart, baby! Show me some sexy detective work. Of course, I’m just in it for the stories *shifty look*

Photobucket

Paddy and his lovely curly hair

Paddy McGoohan has been swimming and now his hair is all curly. This pleases me. Plus, some nice brow furrowing going on there.

Photobucket

Holmes and Moriarty...so it's come to this

Two highly intelligent men scrapping on top of a mountain like idiots. Because their brains fail when it comes to each other...huh...I’m amazed I don’t ship this.

Too blue, but I like the cropping, the fact that you can see both their expressions so clearly.

Photobucket

Reggie Perrin *facepalm*

I’m a twenty-four year old woman, he’s a forty-something year old man...we might just be the same person though. In short; occasionally I feel like I’m going a little crazy and no one seems to realise that the world is a silly place to live in.

Photobucket

The Prisoner...he is not a number!

I love this show more than I can say. I keep watching the last episode hoping to finally understand...I haven’t as yet. Either Patrick McGoohan was an utter genius or certifiably insane. Mind you, I don’t suppose those two things are mutually exclusive. Maybe I just get too distracted by Paddy’s beautiful blue eyes. That is very possible.

I think this icon works. Paddy has a great face...handsome SOB.

Plus, the text isn’t too bad.

Photobucket

AWP...canny bunch o' lads

From Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, which is hilarious. Dennis, Neville and Oz are canny Geordie lads who I can barely understand most of the time. I love this programme even though the displays of jingoism sometimes make me squirm...mind you, it’s meant to cause that reaction. Watch this but watch it with subtitles.

Hee hee, plus the top part of the sky is fake.

Photobucket

Foyle's War...umm what!?

Because I love Foyle’s War and Michael Kitchen is very sexy and that expression is priceless!

Photobucket

Foyle's War...a bit of het shipping

Hell yeah. She’s always going out with his son and I never know why! It angers me. I much prefer Foyle senior. Anyway, you can’t convince me that they’re not in love. She’s so pretty too and tomboyish and I really love her.

Photobucket

The Man From UNCLE...Napoleon and Illya totally in love

Yes, Illya and Napoleon are in love and there is nothing you can say that will persuade me otherwise. They are cute together and they fight THRUSH *snerk* Also, come on, an American and a Russian...in the 60s! I just HAVE ship that.

Photobucket

Second Doctor...better than your Doctor!

This is true and the quicker you accept it, the better you’ll feel. The Second Doctor is awesome...accept no substitutes. This is a joke BTW. I walked away from Doctor Who fandom because of the “best/worst Doctor ever!” wank. I secretly love them all...but I love Two more.

Photobucket

DW Liz and the Brig...more het shipping

Because they’re both hot and she’s teaching him about real feminism. I love the idea of her try to reconstruct the Brigadier. Plus I like the idea of them getting it on. *shallow*

Photobucket

Stephen Fry...hello Tony!

From the A Bit of Fry and Laurie sketch, Tony and Control. I think I shipped them before I knew what shipping was. Stephen Fry looks very good in waistcoat and shirtsleeves.

Photobucket

HoC Urquhart/Stamper...like Richard III and Buckingham

They really are RIII and Buckingham. I really wish I’d been alive to see Ian Richardson play Richard III. Oh, can you imagine if these two had actually played RIII and Buckingham? How cool would THAT be?

Photobucket

A Bit of Fry and Laurie...pretty slashy

This show totally corrupted me when I was young. I can’t thank Fry and Laurie enough for it! They were a brilliant double act and I really wish they did more together now. Plus, this show was really homoerotic!

Photobucket

John and Paul

I know, I should’ve stayed away from the real person slash, but I got curious. Still, I love Lennon and McCartney and I love the Beatles and I like to think that if John was still alive things would be all cool between them now. You can’t argue with me because we’ll never know ;_;

Nothing makes me happier than the Beatles and their music is unsurpassed.

Photobucket

Cesare...somnambulist

From The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari. German expressionism FTW! I can’t adequately express my admiration for the beauty of this film. Plus it’s WEIRD!

Photobucket

The Marx Brothers...anarchy in the USA

I love the Marx Brothers. Really, really, really love the Marx Brothers. Groucho’s my favourite. I’m a bit in love with Groucho Marx.

Photobucket

Sue Perkins...classy bird!

From the Supersizers series where they spend like a week eating food from certain periods and show the effect the food has on the body. Mostly they eat too much and get really drunk. It’s hilarious. Sue Perkins is not classy but I love her. Watch this show. It’s like a...hilarious history documentary.

Photobucket

Lestrade...cute but totally clueless

We forgive him being dim because he’s CUTE. His expressions rock my world.

Photobucket

Lestrade...d'aww

Lestrade is bored. He also looks tiny in that chair. D’aww. SIXN icons win simply for being SIXN icons.

Coollness!

Excellent choices! Truly excellent.
Glad you like Groucho. His brother Chico was the ultimate creep and a plague on humanity.

It was hard choosing my favourites (hence the double post).

Ah, Chico...yeah...

Although from what I hear, Groucho wasn't a person you should really get too attached to. I can't help it though, the man's too sharp. I love him.

When I read the bios on the Marxes neither Groucho nor Chico come off as not too pleasant people.. Chico had a gambling problem, a drinking problem, women problems.. Groucho had a wife problem. Their brother on the other hand, MY favourite, Harpo... :P

got a negation too many there.. that should read
"neither Groucho nor Chico came off as too pleasant"

Oh, you're definitely right there. Harpo is the one that I should love (and of course, I really do) but I, unfortunately, have a masochistic side to my personality that draws me more towards Groucho. Mind you, it helps that I will never be asked to make the choice in real life ;)

I have a friend who unfortunately remembers too much about Chico, but she said Groucho took no for an answer; Chico didn't. When Groucho talked about a club he wanted to join, his friends hesitantly said they didn't allow Jews. "Would they let my son wade in to his knees?" He asked without missing a beat.
