...and I promise to be good
Jan. 7th, 2008 01:53 pmNew Years has come around again. I will soon be another year older and will therefore be expected to be another year wiser. This of course is rubbish and I will continue to be the same inept/brilliant person that I have always been and will continue to confuse you with my contrary nature for a lot longer still.
I have taken it upon myself to make some New Years resolutions this year, somthing which I usually avoid due to my chronic lack of will power. I have compromised with myself however, and my soul and my poor overworked brain are in agreement this year. My resolutions are these:
Stop fanny-ing around and get more work done.
Despite what people say, the only way to get a first at uni is to actually do the work. I as yet have been coasting, relying on my sometimes-brilliance to get me through. This road will only lead to mediocracy.
Read more Terry Pratchett books.
And this is not just because of recent unfortunate news regarding Mr Pratchett. This has been on my New Years Resolution list since I was fifteen and I started making some headway. But there are so many bloody books! There just never seems to be enough life to fit them all into. I will persevere though. I will not be beaten.
Read more Kurt Vonnegut books
This will be slightly easier as there aren't as many Vonnegut books as Pratchett books. Plus Kurt Vonnegut is dead (so it goes) and is therefore unlikely to write any more.
Write at least one book
This one sounds harder than it actually is. The truth is, I've already written most of said book and it is just a matter of rounding the story off, leaving room for a possible sequel (as I have a trilogy in mind.)
There, I feel much better now it's all written out like that, rather than being disjointed thoughts in my head.
Ta'ra for a bit!
