No, I don't either. Mattie was an innocent in a way, she didn't understand the danger. Sarah is older and wiser but got involved anyway. Plus she clearly takes a lot of delight in being 'the favourite'.

It is a pretty good term actually. The best thing about writing for more modern fandoms is that I don't have to worry too much about the slang I use ;)

Yes! It's not "I don't want to", it's "he doesn't want me to". That said though I don't think Urquhart ever really understands how deep Stamper's feeling went, even when he realises that he treated him badly.

Yes, he is. I see Stamper as more of a schoolyard sadist, someone who takes great delight in people's petty misfortunes (i.e. Earle and Mackenzie etc) like a bully in the playground, but doesn't have the ruthlessness of Urquhart.
